Stem Cell Research Scientist. Assist in the research effort to use human embryonic stem cells to develop cells for use in drug development and screening. Perform directed research in development of efficient systems to culture human ES cells into specified differentiated derivatives starting with cardiomyocytes (development of engineered marker and selector cell systems for use in developing directed differentiation techniques.) Supervise technicians and other scientists. Design and perform experiments; develop new methods to study mechanisms of hES cell differentiation; examine molecular and chemical aspects of cardiogenesis from hES cells. Investigate the nature, composition, and expression of genes, and research how genetic engineering can impact hES cell differentiation. Required: Ph.D. in Cell Biology or related field and at least 2 years of experience with human embryonic genetic engineering, homologous recombinant techniques for hES cells, and use of FAC machines.
